Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 19, 2026

This policy explains what this website collects, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. We have kept it short and specific, because this site collects very little.

The short version

Who we are

Hot & Steamy Book Events organizes romance author signing events in the United States. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Hot & Steamy Book Events. You can reach us at hotandsteamybookevents@gmail.com.

What we collect

Newsletter sign-ups

If you enter your email address in the newsletter form, we store that address so we can send you event news such as ticket releases and author announcements. Sign-ups are handled by Netlify, the service that hosts this website, and are stored in our account there. We only send email you have asked for, and every message includes a way to unsubscribe.

Server logs

Like nearly all websites, our host records basic technical information when a page is loaded: your IP address, the page requested, the time, your browser type, and the page you arrived from. This is used for security and to keep the site running. We do not use it to build a profile of you.

Fonts

This site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser contacts Google's servers, which means Google receives your IP address. We do not send Google anything else about you. If you would prefer this not to happen, a browser extension that blocks third-party requests will stop it, and the site will still work.

The Participant Hub password

Our Participant Hub is protected by a password. When you enter it, the password is kept in your own browser for the length of that browsing session so you are not asked repeatedly. It is not transmitted to us and we do not record who has opened the hub or when.

What we do not collect

Other sites we link to

Several buttons take you to services we do not control, and once you arrive their own privacy policies apply rather than ours. These include Eventbrite for ticket sales, Google Forms for author, vendor, and volunteer applications, the Humane Society for Southwest Washington for donations, and the personal websites of our team members and participating authors.

How long we keep things

Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you. Server logs are kept for a short period by our host as part of its normal operations. We do not keep records of Participant Hub access.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link in any email we send, or by emailing us. You can also ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it entirely. Email hotandsteamybookevents@gmail.com and we will take care of it.

Depending on where you live, you may have specific rights under laws such as the EU and UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We honor these requests regardless of where you live. We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it.

Age

Our events are for adults aged 18 and over, and this site is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their details, email us and we will delete them.

Security

This site is served over an encrypted connection, and newsletter submissions are stored in our host's systems behind account access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we keep the amount of information we hold deliberately small.

Changes

If we change how the site handles information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes affecting newsletter subscribers will be mentioned in an email.
